Hiking in central-Limburg
Central-Limburg has a fairly flat landscape and is ideal for every type of hiker. There are national parks with special flora and fauna. You can make walks across borders with a trip to Germany or Belgium. En route you’ll see a variety of flora and fauna.
Across the border
The ‘Meinweg’ is one of the national parks in the middle of Limburg where you walk through a landscape with steep transitions. In addition, there are forests, heaths, valleys, puddles and streams. It’s easy to walk from Grenspark Kempen-Broek into Belgium. This park is located in both countries. However, the most beautiful nature reserve is the Leudal with vast forests where you walk around in absolute peace and natural beauty.
Churches and castles
Central-Limburg has a unique location in between Belgium and Germany. This narrow piece of Limburg is, among other things, famous for its numerous religious buildings. During your walk you can have a look in the Abdijchurch of the Basilica of the St. Wiro, Plechelmus and Otgerus. Visit impressive medieval construction works or a castle. You will find imposing castles in the area, such as Aerwinkel, built by the famous architect Cuypers.
