Discover the Osnabrück zoo

The Osnabrück zoo in lower Saxony has over 300 animal species. The park has an area of 23 acres and mainly focuses on tropical animals, in particular from Africa. One of the top attractions is the underground zoo, which is known worldwide.

Animals under the ground

In the Osnabrück zoo there is an area that’s called the African Samburu-landscape. Here you can find antelopes, zebras, giraffes and African elephants in their natural way of life. One of the highlights is the underground zoo. Here you can find animals in their natural landscapes, which are under the ground! In this underground labyrinth you can find hamsters, prairie dogs, rats, grey moles, earthworms, crickets and nature field mice. For children there is the Mombasa-kidsland, a playground in the form of an African village where they can climb, hide and play.
